BIOHOME SHOWER MEDIA is the new revolutionary product that is completely different from the usual fragile ceramic tubes that are otherwise sold as media for Riesel and pond filters. This filter medium can also be quickly populated with good bacteria with the gelated filter starter balls. It is incredibly hard as we use a higher percentage of glass powder to melt the different sized sand particles. This allows very high flow rates without signs of wear, even after years of use. BIOHOME Shower Media will not affect the pH. Its incredible break resistance and very high pack density make it the best choice for Riesel and pond filters. Even if you already use another filter material, you can fill BIOHOME SHOWER MEDIA around it and thus significantly increase the filter performance. Like all other versions of BIOHOME it has an excellent inner structure that perfectly supports colonization with aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and thus supports the breakdown of ammonium, nitrite and nitrate. The medium is sold by weight (kg). 1 kg corresponds to about 0.9 litres of water and for the best possible nitrate reduction take approx. 1 kg per 1000 - 3000 litres of pond water or 1 kg per adult koi.
