The Seymour Duncan Pegasus 7-String Bridge Humbucker is a modern, double-coil Alnico 5 pickup with a passive, 7-string design and a sound aimed at progressive metal and rock. An especially solid choice for 7-string electric guitars with a longer-than-standard scale length, this hand-made pickup boasts great string-to-string balance alongside an excellent response. The warm and lush sound shaped by the Alnico 5 magnet and doubled coils is framed by rich harmonics, tight lows and focussed mids, but when you turn up the distortion or overdrive, you get a high resonance peak that brings sparkling trebles and a tight attack followed by immediately swelling chords. To counter feedback, Seymour Duncan has wax-potted this Pegasus bridge pickup, which also has four-conductor wiring that supports coil-splitting for an additional single-coil-style voicing.
