70cl / 43.00% - This fascinating French brandy from St Remy shines a light on the art of blending with a generous amount of transparency about its composition provided by master blender Cecile Roudaut. The blend combines a selection of mono-grape, bi-grape-and multi-grape eaux-de-vie and the label gives us a breakdown of the main grape varietals and vineyards, as well as the type of distillation (pot, column, and coffey still). The blend includes Chenin eaux-de-vie from the Loire Valley, ugni blanc, colombard, and baco blanc from Gascogne, alongside multi-grape combinations from a mixture of French vineyards. Around 25% of the final spirit is pot-distilled and it's bottled without chill filtration, at a satisfying 43% ABV, resulting in a lively, complex profile and a mouth-coating texture, brimming with notes of prunes, rich old oak, leather, and tobacco.
