Famille Hugel Estate Gewurztraminer white wine, 75 cl

Hugel

The Hugel family are pioneers of winemaking in Alsace, tracing back to 1639. The business retains family values and character, and is currently managed by the 12th and 13th consecutive generations of the family. Famille Hugel owns an estate of 30 hectares of prime sites in Riquewihr, more than half classified as Grand Cru. It also buys grapes from a further 100 hectares farmed by partner growers in similar clay/limestone dominated terroirs, which strongly mark the style of Famille Hugel wines. All grapes are, and will always be hand-picked. The Hugel Estate range wines epitomise the true expression of the great terroirs of Riquewihr. Only available in two grape varieties: Riesling and Gewurztraminer, which come entirely from selected plots on the family estate. This is a step-up from the Hugel Classic range. Originally from northern Italy, this is the emblematic grape of our region due to its slow maturation with cool nights giving its full varietal expression. Dry but full and intensely aromatic. Serve it at 8°C as an aperitif, or with game terrine, foie gras, strong cheeses, munster or maroilles, and with tasty, slightly spicy dishes from China, Morocco or India.
