The Neotenic Lamp is the fruit of the first collaboration between Petite Friture and the American design studio Jumbo. Its round, generous and organic shapes allude to the reassuring aesthetics of childhood. The designers' intention: to arouse emotion and create a carnal bond between man and object. The Neotenic Lamp is a true feat of craftsmanship and technique, defying the laws of physics. Crafted by Ceramic artisans in Portugal, the body of this lamp requires a complex mold to achieve its rounded shape, particularly for the large size which requires a six-part mold. Neotenic is the result of meticulous work: hand-finishing of the ceramic before firing, drying against gravity and painting with a single gesture. Hand-blown glass leaves a soft, opaline appearance that enhances the sinuosity of the ceramic and the quality of the light. The signature Petite Friture colors of Griotte, Vermilion and Vanilla suggest the regressive image of eggplant and tomato sauce.
