Nemasys Leatherjacket Killer Spring Nematode TreatmentTreats 100 Sq.m For Lawn Grub Control from B&Q
Nemasys
Nemasys Leatherjacket Nematodes provide a natural way to deal with leatherjackets in lawns. Leatherjackets are the underground larvae of crane flies, commonly known as daddy-long-legs, and they feed on grass roots which can lead to weak, thinning or yellow patches in turf. This pack treats lawns up to 100 square metres and uses beneficial nematodes to target leatherjackets in the soil. Once applied with water, the microscopic nematodes move through the soil and help reduce the larvae responsible for damaging grass roots. What are leatherjackets? Leatherjackets are grey-brown larvae that live below the soil surface and feed on the roots of grass plants. When infestations are present, lawns may become patchy or weak and can sometimes lift easily from the soil. Birds may also be attracted to the lawn as they search for the larvae. When to apply Nemasys Leatherjacket Nematodes The best time to treat leatherjackets is shortly after adult crane flies appear in late summer. The eggs they lay normally hatch within two weeks, and the young larvae begin feeding on grass roots soon after. Best applied from late August to October Spring applications may help if lawn damage continues Apply when soil temperature is above 5°C Apply to moist soil and keep the lawn damp after treatment How to apply Water the lawn first if the soil is dry. Mix the nematodes with water following the instructions provided. Apply evenly using a nematode watering can or nematode applicator. Water the lawn again after application. Keep the soil moist for at least one week after treatment. Safe for lawns and wildlife Nematodes are a natural biological treatment rather than a chemical control. When used as directed they are suitable for lawns used by pets, children and wildlife, and there is no need to keep anyone off the grass after application. Storage and shelf life This product contains live nematodes and should be stored in the refrigerator as soon as it arrives. The typical shelf life is around two weeks from dispatch. Because it is a live product it cannot be returned once delivered. Signs of leatherjackets in a lawn Yellow or thinning grass Weak turf that lifts easily Bare or patchy areas Birds pecking at the lawn Grey-brown, legless larvae just below the soil surface Frequently Asked Questions What area does this pack treat? One pack treats lawns up to 100 square metres. How long can the nematodes be stored? Nematodes are live organisms and should be used before the expiry date, usually within about two weeks when stored in a refrigerator. When is the best time to apply them? Late summer and early autumn are normally the most effective times, when crane fly eggs have hatched and the larvae are active in the soil. How do I know if leatherjackets are present? Lawns may develop yellow or bare patches and the grass can sometimes lift easily because the roots have been eaten. Grey-brown larvae may be visible just below the surface of the soil.
