ICM 1/72 Sd Kfz 223 Radio Communication Armoured Car\n20 mm scale\n\nRef : ICM72421\nThis auction is for a brand new kit still sealed in its plastic bag.\nThe Sd Kfz 223 was a wireless car model of the Sd Kfz 222 Light Armoured Car. Introduced in 1938, it was specifically designed to carry long range radion equipment. The 223 had a smaller turret than the 222 mounting only a 7.62mm MG34 and the frame aerial around the hull. This aerial could be lowered to provide a lower silouette however it proved unsatisfactory and was later replaced by a vertical rod type as seen on the Sd Kfz 260. In a lowered position, the frame aerial fitted snuggly round the hull. \nThe 223 was employed by HQ units for communicating with divisional or brigade HQ, for which a much greater range was required from the wireless set. \nThis is one of the few model kits available of the 223 which is an unusual and rare addition to any collection. \nIdeal for wargaming or just building for fun.
