Tasting Notes Founded over two centuries ago in 1779 Bowmore is the first recorded distillery on Islay and one of the oldest in the whole of Scotland. Islay whisky is renowned for its peaty smokiness and Bowmore is no exception. Matured in an inspired combination of both Bourbon and Sherry casks it's the final three years spent in Oloroso Sherry casks that gives Bowmore 15 Years Old the rich deep colour and its warming finish. Generous and powerful Bowmore 15 Year Old – formerly known as ‘Darkest’ – is perfumed and floral on the nose with great complexity and a sweet-savoury character that reminds of hazelnuts toffee and coffee. Nutty and layered on the palate with a black treacle maltiness liquorice salt and dried fruit. Seamlessly balanced and wonderfully indulgent this is a fabulous example of 15-year-old Single Malt Scotch from one of Scotland’s most iconic producers.
