The flat load area was generally covered by a canvas or tarpaulin.\n\nThe AEC Matador had a 10 ton capacity and was generally used for towing the 7.2\"", 5.5\"", 4.5\"" Howitzers as well as occasionally towing the British 25 Pounder.\n\nThe mainstay of the Royal Artillery, the BL 5.5\"" Howitzer saw service on all fronts during WWII from the desert battles in North Africa to the Normandy Beaches and into Germany itself.
