A Cake Drum is the strongest and thickest type of Cakeboard, being 12mm thick and comprising a bonded fibreboard inner covered on the top and sides with fern embossed aluminium foil, with a white paper lined base - covered in black shiny foil. These double-thick boards are made with an MDF base for strength and stability. Board will hold cakes of any height. It is recommended to choose a board that is 2 inches wider than your larger cake tier, giving you 1 inch around the edges of your cake. Using a coloured cake drum is the easy alternative to covering your drum with sugarpaste!
