Beer and Wine Makers Hydrometer\nA hydrometer is an essential piece of equipment to help you understand the Alcohol by Volume (ABV) of your brew. The hydrometer will measure the Specific Gravity (SG) of the liquid that you are about to ferment (before fermentation).\nOnce your Brew has fermented you will take another measurement and the SG should be lighter due to the fact that the sugar has now converted into alcohol.\nTo work out your ABV% you subtract your original SG reading from your final SG reading. Multiply the resulting number by 131.25, and the total will conclude your Alcohol (ABV reading).\nFor a more reliable reading we recommend using a trial jar to take a sample of your brew rather than putting the hydrometer in the fermenting bucket.\nPlace sample into trial jar and lower hydrometer carefully until it floats freely. Spin to remove clingingbubbles. \nBeermaking: - Do not bottle or keg until the hydrometer reads below 1.006 or thebottles may burst.\nHandle with car.
