When the engine experiences a drop in idle speed when the cooling fans engage, this Idle Air Control Valve adds bypass air before the fans fully engage; the IAC Valve prevents the rpm dip that causes noticeable hesitation during normal driving. The Idle Control Valve uses a return spring made of selected spring steel wire with force treatment, and the Idle Speed Control Valve ensures that after one hundred thousand cycles the spring constant change remains below five percent, keeping the plunger return reliable. Before removing the old Idle Air Control Valve, disconnect the battery negative terminal and let the engine cool; take a photo of the vacuum hose connections and component orientation for reference, then loosen the two mounting bolts and pull the IAC Valve straight out without twisting; install the replacement part with the included gasket and tighten the screws diagonally.
