When the engine experiences a sudden idle drop when the air conditioning compressor clutch engages, this Idle Air Control Valve senses the load increase and adds bypass air before the compressor fully engages; the IAC Valve works with the ECU to prevent the rpm dip that causes noticeable hesitation. After removing the old IAC Valve, clean the mounting flange surface with a plastic scraper; place the included gasket onto the flange, align the bolt holes, hand-start the screws, then tighten the IAC Valve in a diagonal sequence to the torque value shown on the housing.
