The two began writing songs together and\nthe group released their first LP, Talking\n\u2019bout Milkshakes! in\n1981. With Childish and Hampshire sharing guitar and vocal duties,\nBruce Brand on drums, and Bertie on bass (later replaced\nby Russ Wilkins then John Agnew), the Milkshakes\u2019 sound\nwas a primitive blend of British beat groups, like the early Kinks at\ntheir toughest, and hard-rocking American guitar instrumentalists\nlike Link Wray.
