Easy to grow and highly productive, cucamelons are a talking point in any garden.Sow: Apr to MayHarvest: Jul to SepSowing IndoorsLevel fill a module tray with seed compost, firming with the base of another tray. Water well. Sow seeds individually on edge, pushing 1–2 cm into the compost. Place in warmth (20–25 °C) and cover with cling film. Keep moist.Growing OnRemove cling film as soon as shoots appear. Keep seedlings in a light position, shaded from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant into 8 cm pots of potting compost. Grow on in a minimum temperature of 12–15 °C.Greenhouse PlantingPlant 50 cm apart into a greenhouse border, grow bags, or 30 cm diameter pots once a minimum temperature of 12 °C can be maintained. Water regularly, especially in hot weather, and use tomato food to promote fruiting. Train up a wire or cane and pinch out growing tips when plants reach the top of their support.AdviceCheck plants frequently. Regular picking will encourage more fruits to form.
