Lansoprazole is a prescription-only medication that reduces the amount of acid the stomach produces. It is used to treat acid reflux, heartburn, stomach ulcers, Gastroesophageal reflux-disease (GORD) and other conditions that require a reduction in stomach acid. It belongs to a group of medicines called Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). There are several PPIs available in the UK and they all work to reduce the amount of stomach acid to provide relief from uncomfortable symptoms.
