Patrick Glover (Patrick Cargill) is a hack author of seedy pulp thrillers. His wife has gone and he's left holding the babies. Rather two rather lippy teenage girls along with housekeeper Nanny (Noel Dyson) and the family pet, H.G. Wells - a gigantic St. Bernard. As if his life wasn't complicated enough, he's also having a tempestuous affair with his literary agent Georgy (Sally Bazely). The series was renowned for tight, mile-a-minute wordplay and is played in the old-school method as though a stage play.
