The Briton 996 Series incorporates an integrated electromagnetic hold-open mechanism which, when connected to the building's fire alarm and detection system, can be set to either ?\u00C7 hold-open?\u00C7\u00D6 or ?\u00C7 swing-free?\u00C7\u00D6 operation. In either case the spring power of the door control is electronically disengaged to allow free passage. When de-activated the electromagnet releases and the door is allowed to close in the normal manner to maintain fire integrity. The Briton 996 Series is ideal for use in areas where a conventional door control would hinder, or worse, bar access to the user. The Briton 996 Series is CE marked to EN 1154 and EN 1155 for electrically controlled closing devices, fire tested to EN 1634 and Certifire Approved for use on timber doors to achieve a 2 hour fire rating.
