When the engine experiences a low idle that makes the vehicle feel like it is about to shut off at stop lights, this Idle Control Valve increases air delivery to maintain the minimum idle speed required for accessory running; the IAC Valve prevents the engine from dropping below the stall threshold. The Idle Speed Control Valve features a precision-ground valve seat and plunger tip geometry matched to create a metal-to-metal line contact seal, while the Idle Air Control Valve keeps leakage within a very small range while allowing fine air metering at small openings. Before removing the old IAC Valve, disconnect the battery negative terminal and let the engine cool; take a photo of the vacuum hose connections and component orientation for reference, then loosen the two mounting bolts and pull the Idle Control Valve straight out without twisting; install the replacement part with the included gasket and tighten the screws diagonally.
