When the engine experiences a sudden idle drop when the air conditioning compressor clutch engages, this Idle Air Control Valve senses the load increase and adds bypass air before the compressor fully engages; the IAC Valve works with the ECU to prevent the rpm dip that causes noticeable hesitation. Before removing the old IAC Valve, disconnect the battery negative terminal and let the engine cool; take a photo of the vacuum hose connections and component orientation for reference, then loosen the two mounting bolts and pull the IAC Valve straight out without twisting; install the replacement part with the included gasket and tighten the screws diagonally.
