When the engine experiences a drop in idle speed when the cooling fans engage, this Idle Air Control Valve adds bypass air before the fans fully engage; the IAC Valve prevents the rpm dip that causes noticeable hesitation during normal driving. After removing the old IAC Valve, clean the mounting flange surface with a plastic scraper; place the included gasket onto the flange, align the bolt holes, hand-start the screws, then tighten the IAC Valve in a diagonal sequence to the torque value shown on the housing.
