When the engine experiences a sudden idle drop when the air conditioning compressor clutch engages, this Idle Air Control Valve senses the load increase and adds bypass air before the compressor fully engages; the IAC Valve works with the ECU to prevent the rpm dip that causes noticeable hesitation. The Idle Control Valve features a low-thermal-expansion housing that maintains gasket compression across the full temperature range, while the Idle Speed Control Valve prevents vacuum leaks that could occur when metal and plastic components expand at different rates during warm-up and cool-down cycles. After removing the old Idle Air Control Valve, clean the mounting flange surface with a plastic scraper; place the included gasket onto the flange, align the bolt holes, hand-start the screws, then tighten the IAC Valve in a diagonal sequence to the torque value shown on the housing.
