Belle Arti Gesso panels are handmade in Italy, and suitable for a wide variety of techniques including oil, acrylic, pencil, watercolour, and ink.\nThe extremely stable 8mm thick poplar plywood base is finished with a very smooth, absorbent acrylic gesso surface. The fine surface is ideal for detailed work.\nThey are very absorbent so you may wish to use extra oil if using oil paint. However, they may not be absorbent enough for use with egg tempera which usually requires a genuine gesso ground.\nPlease note, panels are cut 1mm less on each length (i.e. 50 x 70cm is 49.9 x 69.9cm) so that they fit easily into a standard matching frame.\nPlease also note, the thickness of these panels is typically 8mm but may vary very slightly due to the nature of the natural poplar wood used.
