The Kryos was developed using insights from top alpinists who were demanding lighter, more compact jackets for increasingly technical, high-altitude routes—often with very little margin for error. Through extensive research and development, and drawing on our deep expertise in insulation, we set out to create a jacket that would excel on the toughest climbs at 6,000–7,000 metres and on major modern alpine winter lines, while offering significantly greater warmth and protection than ultralight alternatives. The breakthrough came with our FIRESTORM™ construction and the introduction of a Drilite Loft drop outer shell, which dramatically reduces heat loss and offers the high level of weather resistance needed for truly committing climbs. Beneath the shell is a carefully engineered mix of stitched-through and pleated baffles, arranged to deliver maximum loft and warmth from the 234g of premium goose down. As Uisdean Hawthorn reported after testing a final prototype on Pakistan’s Koyo Zom: “I was genuinely shocked at how much warmer this was in real mountain conditions compared to anything I’ve used before… It’s also far less bulky, which makes seconding after a long belay much easier.” The Kryos has since been worn on many of the most demanding climbs of recent years, including Paul Ramsden and Tim Miller’s Piolet d’Or–winning first ascent of Jugal Spire, Tom Livingstone and Matt Glenn’s first ascent of the NE Pillar of Tengkangpoche, Freja Shannon’s Arctic Norway achievements, and Uisdean Hawthorn’s Piolet d’Or–winning first ascent of Mount Robson’s Emperor Face. Features Insulation 234g (size L) of 90/10 goose down with 800 fill power for outstanding warmth-to-weight performance. Baffle-by-baffle design ensures optimal distribution and maximum loft. Ethically sourced down meeting DOWN CODEX© and RDS 3.0 standards. Each jacket includes a unique DOWN CODEX© code detailing sourcing, down quality, and fill performance.
