The 1:4 scale model of the Ferrari 250 GTO engine and gearbox reproduces the famous 2953 cc V12 Tipo 168 Comp "Colombo" engine, combined with a five-speed manual gearbox: the power unit that marked one of the most glorious chapters in the engineering history of the Maranello-based manufacturer. Created in 1947 by the genius of Gioacchino Colombo, this V12 powered some of the most legendary Ferraris, from the 125 S and 166 Barchetta to the 250 Testa Rossa, 250 GT SWB and, of course, the 250 GTO. Refined and surprisingly advanced for its time, it was considered a true mechanical gem, the result of complex manufacturing processes and a greater number of components than its contemporary inline six-cylinder engines. Evolving over more than forty years, its architecture defined the character of Ferrari V12s: balance, reliability, acceleration, and an unmistakable sound. This reproduction is the result of a meticulous development process lasting over 3,500 hours. Each model requires more than 325 hours of work and is assembled by hand by a small team of skilled craftsmen. Absolute fidelity is guaranteed by the use of original CAD data, color codes, and material specifications provided by Ferrari, as well as a detailed digital scan of the engine belonging to the original 3987GT chassis. Close collaboration with Ferrari Classiche historians has made it possible to rigorously reproduce every visible detail, including markings and technical details, to the point of obtaining official approval from the Maranello-based manufacturer at the end of a rigorous verification process. Produced in a limited edition of only 250 units, the model celebrates one of the most influential engines in the history of motorsport and is intended for a select number of enthusiasts and collectors.
