Primrose Astilbe Fanal False Goatsbeard 9Cm Pot Perennial Plant from B&Q
Primrose
Newly planted astilbes need to be kept well watered until they are established. Lift and divide large clumps every three or four years in late winter or early spring, discarding old woody rhizomes. Mulch with well-rotted organic matter in spring. Pots and Packaging Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery. Preparation The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage. Plant on Arrival Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moist, humus-rich soil Rate of growth: vigorous Flowering period: May to June Hardiness: fully Hardy Fluffy, wine-red flower spires. Deep red, fluffy plumes appear above serrated, dark green leaves in early summer. The flowers of this astilbe are self-supporting and retain their colour for a few weeks. Ideal for a bog garden or moist border, this astilbe will thrive in clay soil as long as it is not allowed to dry out during the summer months. Although it can grow in drier soils, it does need to be in a shady spot.
