The IR emitter cable should be plugged into the transmitter and the eyes should be facing the IR sensor on your source(s). The receiver should be plugged into an output device such as a TV, using a standard AV cable. The IR receiver cable should be plugged into the receiver and the eye should be positioned in a suitable position near to your display device so you can control your AV source via its remote control. The display device can be located up to 300 metres away.
