Cauliflower 'Skywalker' is a cold-tolerant autumn variety with tight, self-wrapped heads, dense white curds and good flavour. Sow indoors February–April or outdoors March–May, 1 cm (1/2 in) deep; keep compost or soil moist, thin to 10 cm (4 in) and plant out 45 cm (18 in) apart when plants have 3–4 true leaves. Overwinter late sowings in a cloche or cold frame, harvest August–October, and protect from Cabbage White butterfly. Grows best in firm, neutral to alkaline soil in full sun and reaches about 450 mm in height.
