Marshalls Garden Patio Cherry 'Regina' - Red
Marshalls Garden
Regina patio cherry produces glossy, dark red to black dessert cherries with a sweet-tart flavour that becomes sweeter as the fruit ripens. Bred in Germany and well suited to northern climates, this variety is notably resistant to fruit cracking and often scores highly in taste tests. Trees are grown and pruned to a compact, container-friendly shape, reaching about 1.2 m (4 ft) — ideal for pots and small patios. Regina is not self-fertile and will need a compatible pollinating cherry nearby. A profusion of early flowers attracts pollinators that also benefit vegetable crops. Prune in winter to remove dead or damaged wood and reduce this season’s growth by a quarter to an outward bud; remove the central leader if needed to encourage side shoots and maintain height. Light pruning in August helps create a good canopy. Rootstock: Colt. Flowering Group: FG4. Harvest in August–September.
