Supplied as 3 plants grown in 9cm pots, Marshalls Garden Foeniculum vulgare 'Purpureum' (Bronze Fennel) is a hardy perennial with attractive bronze-purple feathery foliage and large late-summer heads of tiny yellow flowers. Bees love its nectar and the seeds ripen to give a milder aniseed flavour useful in baking, garnishes and tea. Grow in sun or part shade in humus-rich, well-draining soil, water in dry weather and feed monthly. Remove flower heads to avoid self-seeding or cut back to 30cm after flowering for tidiness.
