This Greek/Roman Army metal chess set is presented in a stunning wooden cabinet. The chess pieces are made from brass and nickel-plated cast metal, giving them substantial weight. The detail is excellent and features classic characters from the ancient armies of Greece and Rome. Includes the Emperor, Queen, officers and foot soldiers. The rook takes the form of a classic architectural column, and the knights are based on a horse-mounted infantry leader. The chessboard is also made from sturdy metal and has a distinctive burnished olive green hand-applied finish, with pillar feet on each corner, slightly elevating the board when in play. Made in Greece by world-famous games maker Manopoulos.
