Brass hinges, lock and key. A superb combination of interesting and luxury hardwoods makes this combination of our Anjan Leningrad pieces and the palisander chessboard the perfect set. Anjan has a colouring that is not dissimilar from the lovely deep, rich hues you find in rosewood, and therefore creates some very beautiful chess pieces. The Leningrad carving is slightly more ornate, especially on the knights. With their height and stature, all the pieces look regal and elegant. Like the other pieces in this series, these large chess men are perfectly weighted and naturally polished with plush flocked bases in green applied to the bases. They are ideal for use in the home and perfect for tournament use. Constructed by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain, this board is created from graded wooden veneers of black anegre, maple for the playing area and beautifully grained palisander rosewood for the border. With its ultra-gloss finish, the chessmen are a perfect match and reflect beautifully on this battlefield. If you can bear to put your chess ornaments away when not in use, then we have added a stunning chess piece cabinet to complete this set. Crafted from mahogany, this lovely box has deep reddish hues, which are complemented by the brass hinges and lock. Currently this is the only box we stock that is lockable. A fully lined interior with green flocking will protect your prize pieces when not in play and can accommodate pieces with a king height of up to 4.4 inches. It is important to note that they will only fit lying down, which is quite normal. Wooden pieces are hardwood and will come to no harm. External Dimensions approx 24.7 x 19 x 12.3 cms.
