Strutting its stuff with strong upright stems and darkened bracts that provide a gorgeous contrast for its deep pink buds to reveal gentle, soft pink blooms. These late summer stunners, in flower from July until October, are also a hit with pollinating insects, especially bees, and perform well in pots or blended with mixed border plantings. Garden care: Plant 'Pink Amistad' with a handful of well-rotted compost or manure in the planting hole. To prolong flowering remove the flower spikes as soon they start to fade. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in spring.
