Plant lily bulbs at a depth approximately three times their own height, spaced 15cm (6 inches) apart, in a sheltered, sunny position. Ensure regular feeding and watering throughout the growing season, keeping the soil consistently moist. When cutting flowers for arrangements, leave at least one-third of the stem to support the bulb's nourishment. Over winter, reduce watering and move container-grown lilies to a cool, frost-free location. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost in the spring. For container-grown lilies, divide and repot into fresh compost every two years to maintain plant vitality.
