Known as the Canary Date Palm, its magnificent, stiff leaves arch elegantly from a short trunk, creating a truly impressive specimen. Awarded an RHS Award of Garden Merit, this palm thrives in frost-free conditions, making it ideal for heated conservatories or as a container plant that can be moved to a warm greenhouse in winter. While it can reach up to 1.5m in containers, if grown naturally in glasshouse borders, it has the potential to grow up to 5m tall with a 3m canopy. It prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soil in semi-shade. For container growing, use a loam-based compost and repot as needed. Regular feeding and watering are recommended during establishment. In winter, protect container-grown plants from frost by keeping compost dry and moving to a frost-free position. In mild areas, horticultural fleece can provide protection for outdoor plants. Palms require minimal pruning; in spring, remove dead or damaged foliage from the trunk. Please wear gloves when pruning as the foliage may be irritant. This pack includes two 1.5L pots.
