Eucalyptus trees make a beautiful addition to the garden. Unlike other, more vigorous types, Eucalyptus gunnii ‘Azura’ is compact and bushy, making these plants are ideal for a smaller garden. All year round you will see evergreen silvery-blue foliage that will reflect and glimmer in the light, adding interest to borders. Exceptionally hardy, this can cope with temperatures as low as -20C (-4F) and is ideal for growing alongside other shrubs or perennials. It’s long stems and attractive leaves are popular among florists for adding to flower arrangements, so why not snip a few stems and bring its beauty indoors with a stunning vase display.Plant eucalyptus trees into any fertile, non alkaline, free draining soil that does not dry out. Choose a position in full sun with shelter from cold winds. Feed and water eucalyptus trees regularly until fully established. Once established, eucalyptus trees are reasonably drought tolerant and will require less attention. Unless it is intended as a specimen tree, Eucalyptus will need regular pruning in early spring to restrict its vigorous growth.
