Get a quick and rewarding harvest with Thompson and Morgan Amsterdam Forcing 3 Carrot Seeds, producing sweet, finger-sized roots that thrive in raised beds, containers or allotments. You'll love how the classic deep red-orange carrots are perfect for early sowings under cloches or cold frames, maturing fast for a continuous supply throughout the season. With each packet containing 1500 seeds and clear growing instructions, it's easy to create a bountiful kitchen garden display. Enjoy the versatility of these hardy carrots, whether you're aiming for an early harvest or a steady crop for your favourite dishes. For a continuous supply, sow these carrots at 14-day intervals. Direct sow carrot seed outdoors, in a weed-free, sunny position in fertile, light, well-drained soil. Carrots dislike freshly manured soils, so seed beds are best prepared in autumn, well in advance of spring sowings. Sow carrot seeds thinly at a depth of one centimetre in drills 30cm apart. Germination will take ten to 20 days. When large enough to handle, thin out the seedlings within each row to five centimetres apart. Where space is limited, growing carrots in containers will also produce a worthwhile crop. Water well to encourage germination. Once germinated, carrots should be watered only when necessary to keep the soil moist, as excessive water may encourage leaf growth instead of roots. During growth, the carrot roots may be earthed up to prevent green crowns from developing. Cover later carrot sowings with fleece or fine netting, and remove all thinning from the site to minimise carrot fly infestation. Ideal For: Kitchen Garden. Hardiness: Hardy Position. In: Full sun. Height: Up to 30cm. Spread: Up to 15cm. Delivered with growing and care instructions. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. Images may be included to illustrate supply, but can vary due to seasonal changes (e.g., deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
