Create your own green sanctuary with the Thompson and Morgan Squash Winter High Sugar Mixed F1 Seeds. This selection of Sweet Dumpling squashes offers a visually appealing combination that enhances both garden aesthetics and culinary presentation. The 'High Sugar Mixed' variety produces bushy plants with fruits weighing between 500g and 750g, ideal for a single serving. These squashes thrive in both containers and garden patches. The mix includes Harlequin, an acorn squash with cream and green stripes; Celebration, an acorn variety with cream and orange stripes featuring green flecks; Table Star, a green acorn squash; and Sweet Lightning, a dumpling squash with creamy orange and darker orange stripes. To cultivate these squashes, sow seeds indoors from April to May for later transplantation. Plant the seeds on their sides in small pots filled with seed compost at a depth of approximately 2cm. Maintain a temperature of 20-25°C until germination, which occurs in 5-7 days. It is essential to ensure that light is not excluded, as it supports this process. Once germinated, grow the plants in cooler conditions until the frost risk passes and they are of adequate size for outdoor transplanting. Gradually acclimatise them to the outdoors over 7-10 days before planting them in a well-drained, humus-rich soil with full sun exposure, requiring a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Alternatively, seeds can be directly sown outdoors in May when soil temperatures rise, at a depth of 2cm and spaced 90cm apart. Sow two seeds per hole and thin out the weaker seedlings after germination. Ideally, protect them with cloches until they are established. This variety can reach a height of up to 45cm and spread up to 150cm. The pack contains approximately 10 seeds.
