To cultivate dwarf bean seeds, sow indoors from mid-April for later transplanting or directly sow outdoors from late May to July. When starting indoors, plant seeds at a depth of 5cm in 7.5cm pots or trays filled with well-drained seed sowing compost. Place in a propagator or seal inside a plastic bag at a temperature between 12-25 °C until germination, which takes 7-10 days. Light exposure promotes germination, so do not exclude it. After germination, grow the young plants in cooler conditions until the risk of frost has passed and the dwarf French bean plants are sufficiently large for transplanting. Acclimatise them gradually to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before planting outside in rich, fertile, well-drained soil with full sun and protection from strong winds. Alternatively, direct sow dwarf green beans outdoors when the soil has warmed, planting 2 seeds per station at a depth of 5cm and spacing them 23cm apart. Arrange dwarf beans in rows that are 45cm apart.
