Catananche caerulea 'Amor Blue' will bloom with cool blue flowers all summer long! This pretty summer perennial flowers on tall, upright stems, adding stunning blue accents to planting schemes. Blooms are borne on airy, slender, swaying stems – perfect for incorporating into meadow planting schemes or grow in bold groups in the border. Flowers are followed by attractive seed heads, offering interest right into autumn.Sow Catananche seed indoors from February to May. Sow seed at a depth of 1.5mm (1/16in) in a tray of good quality seed compost and gently firm down. Seal seed trays inside a plastic bag or place in a heated propagator at a temperature of 19-24C (65-75F). Germination usually takes 14-28 days. Keep the compost moist but not saturated.When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When Catananche plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Transplant outdoors in a sheltered position in full sun on well-drained soil at a distance of 30cm (12”) apart. Seed sown in February will often flower the same year.Water regularly until Catananche plants are fully established.
