The frilly layered flowers on this Geum not only will look beautiful in your cottage garden and wildlife areas, they will also be perfect for cut flower arrangements for your home! The ideal hardy perennial for cheerful summer displays. Geums dislike soils which are prone to waterlogging in winter. Plant them in moist, fertile, well drained soil, adding plenty of compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay or sandy soils. Choose a position towards the front of the border in full sun. Water Avens plants regularly until fully established. Regular deadheading will encourage more flowers to be produced throughout the summer. In spring, lift and divide overcrowded clumps of geum to maintain their vigour.
