Sunflower 'Carmel' F1 is a premium, hardy annual variety, perfect for both cutting and garden display. It boasts large, vibrant yellow flowers with striking dark centres, each borne on strong, tall stems. These plants are pollen-free, making them an excellent choice for bouquets as they won't shed pollen and create a mess. Each flowerhead can reach up to 15cm in diameter, growing into an elegant, tall specimen ideal for borders or impactful floral arrangements. How to Grow: - For direct sowing, plant outdoors from April to May in a sunny location with well-drained soil. Prepare the soil to a fine tilth. - Sow seeds 1cm deep in drills spaced 45cm apart. - Keep the soil consistently watered, especially during dry spells. Germination typically occurs within 21 days. - Thin seedlings to 30cm apart once they are large enough to handle. - Alternatively, sow seeds indoors in 7.5cm pots from March to April, keeping them at 20–25°C. Transplant outdoors after the risk of frost has passed. - Ensure regular feeding and watering throughout the growing season. - Stake tall stems to protect against wind damage.
