Also known as a carnation or pink, these popular perennials are a key favourite with gardeners alike. They offer beautiful clove scented fragrance and successive blooms of white and raspberry pink throughout the summer months. The flowers themselves are a sight to behold; masses of white petals with raspberry picotee edges add a beautiful contrast and vibrant colour to summer gardens. This variety also bears stunning slender grey green foliage; a brilliant contrast to the bright coloured flower heads that sit above. These are quick and easy to establish, with fast forming masses of flowers creating an abundance of colour and character, it is no wonder how this particular variety won an RHS award of garden merit! They also make excellent cut flowers - just perfect for posies and vases. This super little Pink is perfectly hardy and a makes a lovely addition to the front of cottage garden borders or scented gardens. They are also ideal for planting in pots and containers, brightening up any area of your garden. Pot up dianthus plants into free-draining compost, and grow in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. When all risk of frost has passed and plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Dianthus should be planted outdoors in moist, well-drained soil that has been enriched with plenty of manure or garden compost. Dianthus performs best in a sunny positioning, and with some form of shelter from harsh weather conditions when possible. Height and spread: 40cm (16in).
