Be Balm produces whorls of spidery, pink blooms crowning upright stems for an eye-catching perennial display. A magnet for pollinating insects with its nectar rich blooms, this sun loving Monarda forms an attractive clump at the front of borders, particularly on rich, damp soils. Herb growers will also know this variety by its other common name, Bergamot, and by the scent of its aromatic foliage. Culinary note: use the dried leaves to make bergamot tea or use the sweet, spicy-flavoured petals to enhance salads, jellies, rice or pasta dishes. The Kew Pollinators range of seeds from Thompson and Morgan has been specially created alongside the experts at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew to attract and support a wide range of pollinators, including bees, butterflies and beetles, as well as a number of other important pollinating insects.
