If your soil lacks acidity, consider using ericaceous compost and John Innes No.3 in patio containers. Water with rainwater where possible to maintain soil acidity. Protect developing fruits from birds by covering plants with netting, and prune the oldest stems each autumn to encourage new growth and maintain plant health.
