Thompson & Morgan Mountain Garlic (Allium Senescens) 9Cm Pot X 1 from B&Q
Thompson & Morgan
Mountain Garlic (Allium senescens) is a delightful dwarf allium known for its spherical clusters of soft lilac flowers adorned with dark purple anthers, blooming from June to September atop low mounds of twisted leaves. Once prevalent in mountain meadows, this species is now largely extinct in its native habitat, making it a cherished traditional plant in German cottage gardens. Its attractive flowers and tidy foliage make it an appealing ornamental choice, and all parts of the plant are edible, imparting a subtle garlic flavour to salads and various dishes. Consider planting it along ornamental borders or in vegetable plots, where its blooms will attract beneficial pollinators. Height: 45 cm (18 in); Spread: 10 cm (4 in).Growing InformationAlliums thrive best in free-draining soils and full sun. For those planting in clay soils, incorporate grit at the time of planting to enhance drainage. Avoid cold, wet soils, as they can lead to bulb rot. Plant allium bulbs at a depth of 10 cm (4 in) and space them 10 cm (4 in) apart. If your soil is poor, consider adding a slow-release fertilizer during planting to boost fertility. When cultivating alliums, position them where other plants can cover the bases of their stems, effectively concealing the older foliage that dies back before flowering begins.Supplied as 1 x potted plant in 9cm nursery grow pot.
