This striking perennial produces upright spires of vivid crimson-red tubular flowers with contrasting white-streaked throats, adding drama and brightness to borders for up to six months of the year.An excellent choice for cottage-style gardens, wildlife-friendly planting schemes, or simply to inject colour into mixed borders, Penstemon 'Firebird' is undemanding and thrives in well-drained soils. It’s attractive to bees and other pollinators and will return year after year with minimal fuss.Growing Advice:Plant in a sunny or semi-shaded position in fertile, well-drained soil. Penstemons are drought tolerant once established but dislike cold, heavy soils. Improve clay conditions by incorporating coarse grit before planting.Aftercare:Water and feed regularly until established. Deadhead faded flowers to prolong blooming and maintain vigour. In colder areas, apply a dry mulch around the base in autumn and leave foliage in place over winter for added protection.
