Ilex aquifolium 'J.C. van Tol' is a garden-friendly holly cultivar with smooth-edged, glossy green foliage and excellent year-round appeal. Unlike most hollies, it is almost spineless, making it far easier to handle and maintain. This self-fertile variety does not require a pollination partner and will reliably produce small white flowers in late spring, followed by bright red berries in autumn and winter.This upright, bushy tree is perfect for use as a specimen plant, foundation shrub or dense evergreen hedge. Its tough, evergreen foliage filters noise and wind, while also providing valuable shelter and nesting opportunities for birds.
