Clematis 'Ville de Lyon' is a stunning climbing plant renowned for its vibrant, deep purple-red blooms that appear from mid-summer through to autumn. How to Grow: - Plant in a location that receives sun or part shade. - Ensure the soil is fertile, moist, and well-drained. Clematis prefer not to be too wet or too dry. - When planting, bury the crown about 7.5cm (3 inches) below the soil surface to promote vigorous growth from the base. - Improve soil by adding compost or well-rotted manure, especially for garden borders and large patio containers. - Provide support such as a trellis, wires, or a climbing frame. - Water and feed generously throughout the growing season. - Apply a mulch in spring to help retain soil moisture and protect the roots. - Pruning Group 3: In spring, cut back all stems to approximately 20cm (8 inches) above ground level, just above a pair of healthy buds.
