Tolerates a wide range of soils, including sand, chalk, and clay. Free-standing shrubs require minimal pruning; remove dead, damaged, or diseased growth each spring. Trim formal hedges in May and August. Mulch with 5cm of well-rotted compost or manure after pruning.
